Celebrate the magic of the season by creating your own festive yule log—a beautiful candle holder made with natural materials. Use it as a centerpiece throughout the holidays, then honor the ancient tradition of burning it on the Winter Solstice (December 21), the year’s shortest and darkest day. Each participant will receive a beeswax candle to complete their log. Workshops are held indoors at the Center for Rural History. All materials are provided. Spots are limited, registration is required.
Saturday, December 6th

We'll first read a picture book and talk briefly about the traditions and meaning of the Winter Solstice. Then you'll have free time to decorate your own yule log, make a wish for the new year, and enjoy some hot cocoa. Best suited for ages 3-12, but all ages welcome!
Adult session: 10:30 am - 11:30 am; $20 per person
We'll first explore how we can weave the symbolism of the winter solstice into our busy lives and set some intentions to honor this seasonal shift. Then you'll decorate while enjoying on a refreshing seasonal (non-alcoholic) drink.
