As the saying goes here at the farm park; Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without!
Rag rug weaving is an excellent way to recycle and upgrade cloth into something functional, beautiful and homemade. Historically, these creations were used as rugs all over the house, but today you could use them for just about anything from a bed cover to a wall hanging. In this class, you will learn how to make a 15" x 20" rag placemat or cushion.
Date: March 25th, 2023. The class will begin at 10:00 a.m. (arrive a bit early to get settled to be able to start on time) and will end around 3:00 p.m.
Ticket price: $58 (Friends members $50)
All materials will be furnished. If special colors are desired, please bring old bedsheets or other fabric of your choice. What to bring; a sack lunch, something to drink and a sharp pair of scissors.
Instructor and textile artist, Clayton Smith, owns Irish Ridge Alpacas, LLC, a family farm in Cottage Grove, WI, and has demonstrated rag rug weaving and handmade brooms for the Schumacher Farm Park Heritage Fest for the last several years. Fiber-related items are all available at their shop (spinning, weaving, fiber and knitted). Classes are also available at their farm and you'll have an opportunity to meet the alpacas and all the other critters that live there.
