EMPLOYMENT

Program and Event Coordinator; Part-Time, 15 hours/week

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Program and Event Coordinator will lead all aspects of programming and events, including youth programs, workshops, rentals, and special events. Job responsibilities are outlined below in addition to attending monthly board meetings and other duties as assigned. This position is on-site with some evenings and weekends required. The Program and Event Coordinator reports to the Park Administrator. 

This job is ideal for someone who is interested in historic preservation, land restoration, nature, and the community’s engagement with these issues. We are seeking job candidates who enjoy working with children of all ages and community members, are detail-oriented, and can effectively coordinate programs and events. 

Youth Programs 

● Coordinate 4-6 field trips each year for school groups. Tasks include communicating with teachers, recruiting volunteers if necessary, and leading day-of programming.

● Coordinate “Kids on the Farm” one morning per month. Tasks include creating an activity related to rural history and/or nature for children, recruiting volunteers if necessary, and leading day-of programming. 

Workshops 

● Find individuals or organizations to lead workshops for adults and children. Tasks include managing registration and payment, and communicating logistics with workshop leaders. 

Rentals 

● Manage rentals of the Center for Rural History and the Historic Barn. Tasks include ensuring there are no conflicts with workshops or programs, communicating logistics with renters, and coordinating set-up and clean-up. 

Special Events 

● Manage all details of Heritage Fest, Halloween on the Farm, and other seasonal events. Tasks include securing vendors, coordinating volunteers, coordinating set-up and take-down, and leading the event day-of. 

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

● Experience with coordinating youth programs and/or events is preferred. ● Excellent project management and organizational skills required. 

● Good communication skills required. 

● Familiarity with or a willingness to learn Microsoft Office Suite required. ● Background check required. 

● Must be comfortable working outdoors exposed to various weather conditions and elements. The job’s tasks require walking on uneven terrain as well as bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50lbs. 

COMPENSATION

$22-25/hour based on experience and qualifications.
