During this 3-day series summer course, kids get to try out what life was like on the farm during the Great Depression. Ideal for children in 1st to 5th grade. Each day we’ll feature a different skill set or activity vital to everyday life in the 1920' and 1930's.
- June 26th -- Home Sweet Home
Learn the history of Marcella's farm home and daily operations. Make butter similar to how she did and create your own toys. Play time period games, like jacks and marbles, and build a home of Lincoln Logs.
- June 27th -- Heirloom Garden
Gain an understanding of the role of the farm garden during this time in history. Write a note with a feather and berry ink. Make and eat fruit preserves and sample from Marcella's garden. Compete in potato sack races and tug of war.
- June 28th -- Prairie Exploration
Learn why the prairie was such an important part of the farm through an interactive hayride and prairie scavenger hunt. Identify animal tracks and create leaf prints to learn some common prairie plants. Join a sing-along with familiar 1920's and 1930's songs.
